Standardisasi Logistik Rantai Dingin / Standardization of Cold Chain Logistics

STANDARDISASI LOGISTIK RANTAI DINGIN

STANDARDIZATION OF COLD CHAIN LOGISTICS

Products labeled ‘perishable’ such as meat, seafood, vegetables and fruit, medical supplies, and other raw materials definitely require temperature control in shipping and storage.

Cold chain logistics can be categorized as a technology that allows the transportation of goods and products that are sensitive to temperature to be carried out safely along the supply chain. Cold chain logistics processes include: variation in demand, load integrity, and transport integrity. The types of products that will be managed in cold chain logistics have specific handling characteristics.

An optimal and appropriate cold chain logistics design is required, including: temperature uniformity and stability in all cold warehouse spaces, good air distribution to maintain uniformity, and minimum air circulation to prevent dehydration. In addition, cold chain logistics companies need to ensure that the entire distribution runs in an integrated manner.

International Standardization Organizations (ISO) need to take strategic steps so that all countries can standardize the cold chain logistics industry in their respective countries by referring to this international standard, so that the delivery of temperature sensitive products between countries runs smoothly. After completing standardization for cold package delivery through ISO 23412, the ISO 315 Technical Committee continued with standardizing cold chain logistics.

It will take around 2-3 years to complete the draft standard with members (active and passive) from each country’s standardization body. The eighth meeting will be held in Singapore (offline) on 14 to 18 October 2024. Indonesia is an active member of this technical committee, and the Indonesian National Standardization Agency (BSN), sent Hasanuddin Yasni (ARPI) to represent BSN in the meetings of this technical committee.

Meanwhile, Technical Committee 55-02, Cold Logistics for Distribution and Storage, after completing SNI ISO 23412, Thermal Containers and Cargo Containers, created a draft SNI for Personal Competency for Cold Packages delivery which is in the finalization stage.
