ENERGY SUPPLY TO MAINTAIN PRODUCT TEMPERATURE IN FACE OF CHALLENGES
Market accessibility to remote areas to ensure food prices do not vary too much is a cold chain challenge in the delivery process. Crossing temperature sensitive products between islands like Indonesia is a challenge and business opportunity for the cold chain industry. This was revealed in the Forum Group Discussion between the PT. ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) team with the ARPI team involving stakeholder members in the cold chain. With a fleet of 220 ships and having large or small managed ports (pioneer ports), ASDP explains the port points where cold chain facilities need to be provided. Apart from that, the energy supply in the form of electricity on board the ship is to meet the needs of refrigerated vehicles whose travel time exceeds 2 hours.
Building a cold chain community requires a platform that is made appropriate to the infrastructure that will be provided. “Because of this, collaboration is needed in the form of a consortium involving potential cold chain industries and user industries such as the food processing industry,” ARPI added.
ARPI continues to provide insight into cold chain connectivity that is well connected between refrigerated transportation management and cold warehouse management. This is what is called cold chain logistics which has more complex problems than ordinary warehouses. MGM Bosco continued to explain the temperature monitoring capabilities that must be connected during shipping and storage (interface connectivity). This monitoring capability has become a necessity in facing competition in the cold chain industry and has become an advantageous feature for companies involved in the business. This FGD was opened by the Vice President Directors of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry and attended by the ASDP technical work unit, ARPI with members such as MGM Bosco, Kiat Ananda, Cold Space, Jalan Sejuk, Paxel, Multi Terminal Indonesia, NPCT1, Mc Easy, Delima Mandiri, Mitra Karoseri Internasional, Energy Solution Taechnology, Fresh Factory, on February 26 2025.
