Cold chain pada prinsipnya adalah a connected network of specialist facilities, storage, containers, vehicles that store perishable goods in a secure temperature controlled environment.
MENGAPA RANTAI DINGIN SANGAT KRITIS?
1. Memproteksi kualitas produk, 2. Menjaga keamanan produk, 3. Memimpin pertarungan melawan susut pangan (limbah pangan), 4. Menjaga rak tetap terisi, 5. Penting bagi perekonomian nasional
USULAN KEBIJAKAN
ARPI mencatat perlu adanya: 1.
WHAT IS THE FOCUS AND SCOPE OF THE COLD CHAIN?
Cold chain has a meaning or understanding that is quite complex from what is generally interpreted. Not to mention talking about the size and development of the industry, reliable drivers according to requirements, cold chain policies, and the role of stakeholders. This was revealed in a short webinar organized by the Cold Chain Federation of UK.
In principle, a cold chain is a connected network of specialist facilities, storages, containers, vehicles that store perishable goods in a secure temperature controlled environment. This is critical infrastructure that all stakeholders must be aware of. Coverage in cold storage includes: third party logistics warehouse, regional distribution center, farming, port & air freight infrastructure, and food manufacturing.
Meanwhile, for distribution coverage, there are: refrigerated vehicles (vans, rigids, and trailers), refrigerated shipping containers, and passive containers. And for temperature sensitive product coverage, there are: food, pharmaceuticals, horticulture & other specialist products.
How Cold Chain Works? Centered on third party logistics, ready to serve cold storage and distribution needs from players: producers, processors-manufacturers, importers, exporters, regional storage-distribution centers, retailers & wholesalers and purchased consumers.
WHY IS THE COLD CHAIN SO CRITICAL?
1. Protect product quality, 2. Maintain product safety, 3. leading the fight against food loss (food waste), 4. Keep shelves stocked, 5. important for the national economy
PROPOSAL OF POLICY
ARPI note for: 1. Designating the task of ensuring cold chain resilience to a Cabinet office Ministerial portfolio, 2. Development of early warning system for extreme events affecting the cold chain and the supply of perishable products, 3. Oversight of an industry-government collaboration to undertake a national assessment of our critical cold chain infrastructure, 4. Ensuring specific reference to cold chain as critical national infrastructure requires special planning consideration within the National Planning Policy Framework.
